Come celebrate the rich diversity of Kauai’s creative community at the Southside Music and Arts Festival! Live music performances and local vendors will be spread across Kōloa Town. You’ll find 50+ artisans, with a spotlight on Kauai’s wahine artists. There will also be locally owned shops, four live music performances, food trucks, and full service restaurants to enjoy. Vendors and live music will be featured from 5 to 9pm.

The fun kicks off at 5pm in the Waikomo Courtyard in Old Kōloa Town. Enjoy live covers of your favorite songs by Bonnie Vannoy while you sip on a craft beer, latte, or shave ice. Shop from handmade pottery, art, and jewelry, while you relax in the shade of the Monkeypod trees.

At 6pm local musician Dondi returns from Nashville to perform her original music at Kōloa Village. Stroll under the twinkling lights while you shop from vendors and boutiques, or sit down for a full service meal at one of the many bars and restaurants.

At 7 pm live music kicks off on the Big Grass Lawn, with performances by P-Town and then Desperado Orchestra. Let the keiki run around while you grab dinner from one of Kauai’s best food trucks, connect with local artists selling handmade goods, or dance the rest of the night away to the live music.

This is a free and family friendly event. Mahalo to our sponsor, Old Kōloa Town, for making this possible!

Koloa Plantation Days Hapa Trail Walk

An easy morning walk along historic Hapa Trail by the Koloa Community Association. Meet your tour guides at St. Raphael’s Church – this is the island’s oldest Catholic church, so your historical tour is off to a good start.

Hapa Road Trail was once a major route connecting Koloa and the Poipu area. Today, Hapa Trail has been designated by the County of Kauai as a pedestrian and bike way.

On the walk, the guides will share many interesting stories about life in the plantation days and the Koloa Field System. They will share knowledge of archeological surveys, history and point out archeological sites and archeological preserves in the area including the extensive and ingenious ‘auwai system the Hawaiians built to irrigate the area known as the Koloa Field System. The Koloa Field System occupied most of the southern portions of na ahupua‘a of Koloa and Weliweli.

We will be having special field system expert Hal Hammatt from Cultural Surveys Hawai’i lead the hike and be available to answer questions.

The Hapa Trail Restoration Committee and other members of the Koloa Community Association have worked hard to prepare Hapa Road Trail for this year’s walk, spending mornings clearing the undergrowth so that walkers can view and experience the road in a state as close to the original road as possible.

Following the roundtrip walk refreshments will be served at St. Raphael’s Church. Participants will enjoy more chances to “talk story”. The walk and tour is offered free of charge. Hapa Trail t-shirts also available for purchase.
