- Makawehi Sand Dune Walk at Grand Hyatt Kaua’i, Seaview
Terrace, 9 AM. From the Seaview Terrace, the guide from
Kauai Historical Society leads 2-hour round trip walk
through the resort’s grounds to Keoneloa beach and sandstone
bluffs, pointing out ancient Hawaiian structures, unusual
native plants and animals, and unique geological and social
histories of the area. Wear walking shoes and sun

- Maha’ulepu Coastal Hike past Poipu, sponsored by Malama
Maha’ulepu, 9 to 11:30 AM. Moderate hike along beach trail
and surrounding bluffs overlooking spectacular Maha’ulepu
area. Wear sturdy shoes, hats, sunblock, and bring drinking

- Traditional Hawaiian Games at Kiahuna Plantation

- Old Koloa Town Historical Walk from Koloa School, 5:30
PM. Gail Little will “talk story” about Koloa and the
industries and businesses that thrived there, including the
first sugar plantation in Hawaii and the whaling ships that
provisioned in Koloa. During this easy walk, guide gives
interesting history of churches and other historic buildings

“GETTING TOGETHER PLANTATION-STYLE” HISTORIC PARADE
– 10 AM in Old Koloa Town.
Horseback and walking units, floral floats, vintage cars,
decorated vehicles, and marching band are in a great hometown
parade that celebrates aspects of the workers’ camps in
plantation towns. Each camp had its ethnic identity, customs,
foods, games and sports, music and dance.
KOLOA TOWN CELEBRATION at Anne Knudsen
(Koloa) Park
Food, Crafts, Live Entertainment, Fun Zone. $2.00 Admission, 10
AM to 5:30 PM.
Featuring Bruddah Noland, Kaukahi, Augie T, the Pacific Fleet Band and more!

- Plantation Days Rodeo at CJM Stables Noon to 3:30 PM.
8th annual rodeo featuring double mugging, barrel racing,
team roping, steer riding, barrel racing, poo wai u, and
other events. Rodeo is a big sport in Hawaii, so entrants
are highly competitive and exciting to watch. $1 admission.
Food and crafts booths. Bring hats and sunblock. A great
family event. Drive 1 mile past Grand Hyatt Kauai Resort in
