• Makawehi Sand Dune Walk at Grand Hyatt Kaua’i, Seaview Terrace, 9 AM. From the Seaview Terrace, the guide from Kauai Historical Society leads 2-hour round trip walk through the resort’s grounds to Keoneloa beach and sandstone bluffs, pointing out ancient Hawaiian structures, unusual native plants and animals, and unique geological and social histories of the area. “GETTING TOGETHER PLANTATION-STYLE” HISTORIC PARADE – 10 AM in Old Koloa Town.

Horseback and walking units, floral floats, vintage cars, decorated vehicles, and marching band are in a great hometown parade that celebrates aspects of the workers’ camps in plantation towns. Each camp had its ethnic identity, customs, foods, games and sports, music and dance.

• Plantation Days Rodeo at CJM Stables Noon to 3:30 PM. 8th annual rodeo featuring double mugging, barrel racing, team roping, steer riding, barrel racing, poo wai u, and other events. Rodeo is a big sport in Hawaii, so entrants are highly competitive and exciting to watch. $1 admission. Food and crafts booths. Bring hats and sunblock. A great family event.
