Koloa Plantation Days Rodeo - Koloa Plantation Days, Kauai, Hawaii

Koloa Plantation Days Rodeo Hosted by CJM Country Stables / Kauai Rodeo Club

Hawaiian paniolo (cowboys and cowgirls) have been top rodeo competitors since Ikua Purdy of Waimea, Hawaii, won a national roping contest in Wyoming in 1908. From little keiki on up, ropers and riders throughout Hawaii compete in numerous events every year.

The Annual Koloa Plantation Days Rodeo starts at 11am at CJM Country Stables. Bring hats, umbrellas and sunblock. Everyone is invited to enjoy super arena action and to cheer on the skilled cowboys and cowgirls as they compete for prizes. This competition gives riders a chance to exhibit the skills they’ve been practicing all year – this is a chance to see real rodeo in action.

Featured events will include po’o wai u, team roping, double mugging, steer riding, barrel racing and much more. There will be a Paniolo Challenge, where this year’s riders compete with last year’s times for additional prizes. Each Paniolo Challenge winner from last year wears a distinctive shirt to identify the champions.

Entrants in the previous Plantation Days rodeos have come from Hawaii and out of state. Rodeo is a big sport in Hawaii, and you’ll be amazed at the level of competition among the youngsters, women and men.

Food, beverages, souvenir shirts, and other crafts will be available at the rodeo.
